The Norwegian Nurse Cohort

The Norwegian Nurse Cohort was established in 2021 through a collaboration between the Norwegian Nurses Organisation (NNO) and SINTEF.

The project aims to generate knowledge about nurses’ working conditions and occupational health. The cohort is planned to be followed for at least 10 years.

On this website, participants and other interested parties can find project news and updates on research results. You will also find information about the next data collection, as well as contact details for the researchers responsible. Research from the nurse cohort is published regularly and contributes new insights into, among other things, the psychosocial work environment, the risk and consequences of violence and threats in the workplace, causes of work-related sick leave, and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you very much to all nurses who participate by completing the questionnaire! So far, more than 40,000 nurses have taken part, and we hope to include even more in the next data collection in autumn 2026. All members registered as professionally active in the NNO membership register will be invited to participate.
